CM confronts BBSM protestors in Bicholim

Bicholim: Chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar had a confrontation with Bhartiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) activists on Sunday, after they repeatedly interrupted his speech at an event in Bicholim with loud slogans demanding cancellation of grants to Englism medium primary schools.
The CM's outburst came after BBSM workers disrupted his speeches at public events on two consecutive days.
On Saturday too, BBSM agitators led by Dhiraj Swant had launched a protest at Karapur where CM Paesekar had gone to attend an LED light distribution programme.
On Sunday, about 30 protestors accompanied by BBSM president Shrikrishana Dhond, and senior leaders Mahesh Mhambrey and Dhiraj Sawant, showed black flags and shouted slogans outside BMC Hall, Bicholim, even as the CM was addressing a gathering.
Although a seeminglyunperturbed Parsekar completed his speech despite the rucus, he confronted the agitators after the event and asked them the reason why they were disrupting public events. The activists reiterated their demand that grants to English medium primary schools be stopped with immediate effect. They remained firm on their stance even as Parsekar tried to pacify them saying the government has started giving incentives to encourage Marathi and Konkani medium primary schools. Finally, after a round of fruitless discussions, the CM left the venue.
