PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has made a strong pitch to scrap the no detention policy, implemented as part of the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) under the RTE Act in 2010 and suggested to instead reintroduce regular exams for the students to better their academic performance.
During a presentation in New Delhi in the presence of PM Modi, he opined the system has affected the performance of the students.
“The existing system of promoting students by default to higher classes has affected the overall quality of education and students. Therefore, regular exams should be re-introduced to ensure learning outcomes are achieved,” he said while also claiming that the State is making regular efforts to improve quality of school education with focus on improving learning outcomes and granting incentives on quality performance.
