Goan joins Intel's elite Indian developer club

Panaji: In a fitting recognition of the state's potential as a hub for innovation, a Goan techie, Prajyot Mainkar, has been identified by Intel Corporation as an innovator worthy to mentor other software developers and to showcase innovative solutions.
Mainkar joins an elite club of 13 Indian software developers from India and is the only Goan to make it to the prestigious list released by the Santa Clara-California-based company.
"We highly recommend these developers for speaking events, demonstrations, and project work as they have proven to be skilled at mentoring and showcasing innovative solutions to fellow developers," Intel said to describe developers who are recognized as Intel software innovators. Intel is one of the world's largest and highest-valued semiconductor chip makers.
Intel provides the developers early access to software development kit or SDKs, as they are known as in geek parlance, software development platforms, and in-market or production devices. Besides these benefits, Intel also granted Mainkar the access to early information and regular technology briefings.
"I have been working on the Android application development for x86 devices for a long time. I have spoken at several seminars in the past related to the same. The selection procedure involves a round of questionnaires and selection calls where they check with you and your knowledge on this subject. Only after clearing all the hurdles, Intel provides the designation of Intel software Innovator. Now that I am one, I will be given opportunities to showcase their work to other developers," Mainkar said.
To earn his daily bread and butter and then some more, Mainkar designs mobile applications or masquerades as the manager of the Goa Android users group, a part of the Google's developer group. Incidentally, the Goa Android users group, with 1,300 registered members, is one of the oldest android developer communities in India.
The Laxmikant Parsekar government has begun to pitch Goa as an Information Technology destination, and Mainkar's selection as an innovator by the American multinational technology company only serves to build Goa's image.
The BITS Pilani alumni is a regular at Google's I/O developer conference and was selected by Google as an explorer for the Google glass project. Mainkar has also been chosen as a mentor for the Google developer groups in India.
Recognizing his immense skill and hold over the Android platform, Mainkar had been called to speak at Droidco
