MAPUSA: Mapusa police booked a Delhi based doctor and owner of a Panaji based cosmetic clinic for culpable homicide not amounting to murder in connection with the death of a 55-year-old woman from Mapusa.
According to police the deceased had undergone a liposuction cosmetic surgery in Panaji which was conducted by a Delhi based doctor on January 26, 2016. During the post operation treatment she died at a private hospital in Mapusa on January 30. Mapusa police registered an unnatural death case.
Later the deceased’s son Stef D’Cunha filed a complaint with Mapusa police.
Acting on the complaint the Mapusa police forwarded the case paper along with autopsy report to the medical board of Goa Medical College, Bambolim and requested them to conduct an inquiry if there was any negligence by the doctor.
On Saturday, Mapusa police registered an offence under Section 304 read with 34 of IPC against the doctor and the owner of the cosmetic clinic for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Mapusa PI Tushar Lotlikar said, “We have registered an offence following the report of an expert doctor from GMC which stated that there was medical negligence”.
PSI Prashant Bhagat is investigating the matter.
