Panaji: Reacting to the Union cabinet decision to approve implementation of seventh pay commission, chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Wednesday said that the state would like to give similar benefits on the lines of the Union government.
The implementation of seventh pay commission would result into an additional financial burden of 750 crore on the state.
Speaking to TOI, Parsekar said when the Union cabinet accepts the seventh pay commission, every state has to take its own decision on the implementation.
He also said that the Union government may implement seventh pay commission from January, 1, 2017, but actual disbursement of benefits may come later. Parsekar said it would require 50 crore for salary per month and 12.5 crore for pensions per month.
