Goan-origin MP in the UK, Keith Vaz, on Friday, expressed disappointment over the Brexit referendum result.
"This is a crushing decision, a terrible day for Britain and a terrible day for Europe. But, we need to respect the decision of the British people," he said, adding, "The issue of EU citizens remaining in the UK is a topic for negotiation between Britain and the European Union (EU)."
Pointing out that 1.2 million British citizens currently live in the EU and three million European citizens live in the United Kingdom, Vaz, in a statement issued from London, said their status will not be made clear until negotiations are complete.
"We must work together with our European neighbours during this time of uncertainty to secure a stable future for our citizens both, at home and abroad," he added.
