CM downplays Lobo’s outburst

Panaji: State chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar, on Friday, downplayed the crisis in his coalition government caused by a section of first-time BJP MLAs demanding the ouster of five senior ministers from the cabinet saying their non-performance is responsible for the government getting a bad name. He said that Calangute MLA Michael Lobo never demanded the ouster of the five senior ministers in his cabinet.
Lobo had told TOI on Wednesday that they will come out with the names of non-performing ministers very soon. He also said that he had held a meeting with Parsekar and discussed about the resentment among BJP's first-time MLAs over the slow development in their constituencies.
Speaking to media persons, Parsekar said, "If Lobo has identified five senior ministers who are not performing, he should have told me. He has never told me about removing ministers from the cabinet." Parsekar added that after seeing media reports on Lobo's statement, he had called the MLA to discuss the issue.
The recently-held BJP legislature wing meeting chaired by the chief minister had seen an exchange of words between and ministers and MLAs over issues on development in the state. One of the young MLAs had accused the ministers of acting as if they are ministers of only their own constituencies and not of the entire state. BJP state president Vinay Tendulkar had also taken a note of the resentment and asked the chief minister to immediately pacify Lobo.
