Major fire destroys Cansaulim supermarket

Cansaulim: A major fire in a supermarket in the heart of the village raged for an hour and damaged property worth a few lakhs of rupees.

A total of six fire tenders drawn from various places tried to douse the fire at the well-stocked supermarket. The fire is suspected to have been ignited by a short circuit, but could not be confirmed immediately.
While the supermarket was located on the ground floor of a single-storeyed building, the shop and the goods were totally gutted in the blaze. There were no casualties. The firemen managed to restrict the fire from spreading to other shops and two banks in the building. Three ATM kiosks were also located in the same building. The staff of all establishments was safely evacuated soon after the fire was noticed.
Two LPG cylinders on the first floor were removed by the personnel.
Reliable sources said there was a problem of power fluctuations due to which LED bulbs started cracking.
RDA minister and local MLA, Alina Saldanha, also visited the the site.
All air-conditioners, deep freezers, fridges racks and groceries, and commodities were burnt.
Fire was noticed after lunch break when the blaze spread rapidly.
