NIT-Goa student offered 11.62 lakh salary per year

PANAJI : Babajob, an online job search portal, offered the best pay package during the 2016 recruitments at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Goa. MTech student Rupali Bhatnagar was offered 11.62 lakh per annum by Babajob for the post of software engineer.
The package could not better last year's highest of 16 lakh a year offered at the institute.
Bhatnagar, a MTech degree holder in the stream of computer science, will be based at Babajob's office in Bengaluru.
Nearly all of the 45 BTech and eight MTech graduates from NIT Goa secured on campus placements.
Placement official Damodar Reddy said the institute was unaffected by the issue faced by other national institutes where offers made to students were either withdrawn or their pay packets significantly reduced post recruitment by startups.
Reddy said that the best salary package being offered may be even higher this year at 15 lakh per annum as two companies are yet to finalise their offers to students.
The average pay package offered at NIT Goa this year is around 5 lakh per annum. Last year, the average package was 4.8 lakh per annum and companies like Amazon, Samsung Technologies among others had visited the campus.
A number of companies visited NIT Goa campus for recruitment this year including names like MuSigma, Barclays, Unisys, Polaris, IBM, LnT InfoTech, LnT Constructions, Wipro, Innoplexus, Tata Elxsi, Amdocs, Sapient and Great West Global Business Services. Probably this was the best count of companies arriving for recruitment since NIT Goa was established. Ruckus Wireless also carried out recruitment exercise on campus, but is yet to make offers.
NIT Goa, among the latest NITs to be set up in the country, started operations in 2010. The institute is still functioning with limited infrastructure from its temporary campus at the Goa Engineering College premises at Farmagudi.
The institute has managed to up its students' profile by providing them with the opportunity to intern during their course at CERN (Geneva), Siemens, Amdocs, NCAOR and the various IITs.
