Police bust inter-state flesh trade racket, arrest 5

PANAJI: Goa police, on Thursday, informed that they have busted an interstate high-end prostitution racket that was allegedly run by 46-year-old Anand Kumar from Mumbai. The main accused Anand Kumar alias Andy alias Chetan, a resident of Ribandar and a native of Mumbai has been arrested along with his four other accomplices.
The police identified other accused as Naga Pramodh Kumar alias Dumbu (23) from Andhra Pradesh, Indradev (19),  Ramudesh (24) and Santosh (22), all three from Bihar
“Anand Kumar is the main accused and was also wanted by the Goa police in at least five such cases (prostitution) that were registered at different police stations in the state,” said SP (Crime Branch) Karthik Kashyap while addressing a press conference in the police headquarters in the city on Thursday evening.
“Kumar is the main agent, and the prostitution racket was operational in Goa as well in Maharashtra. Kumar was on the radar of the police. It’s a crucial breakthrough and our police team has done a commendable job,” said Kashyap, adding that, “we have seized certain incriminating material which suggests involvement of some more people in the crime.”
He said that the accused had a list of high profile clientele and that the accused was pimping certain actresses (small-time) as well as models.  Based on source information, a trap was laid and the accused Dumbu was arrested while he had come to deliver a victim girl to a decoy customer at a location at Bambolim on Tuesday night. The rate finalised for the deal was said to be Rs 50,000. The victim girl is 23 year old from Mumbai. During the interrogation, Pramodh revealed name of his boss Anand Kumar and was arrested from his residence (rented flat), in Ribandar.
Subsequently, the police also raided a rental flat in Caranzalem from where three more persons Indradev, Ramudesh and Santosh were arrested. These persons were acting as caretakers cum security guards at the place. The rented flat in Caranzalem was used to keep victim girls, police probe has revealed.
Police has found a list of starred hotels where probably the main accused Anand Kumar was sending the victim girls to meet the high profile customers.
Police has also found a list of rates of certain girls and are between Rs 5 lakhs to 20 lakhs. According to the police the accused is in the business for the last 4 years and was leading a plush life.
He had taken on rent three flats in the outskirts of the city, police informed. Police are further investigating the case.
