PANAJI: The government will introduce 12 Bills during the 15-day monsoon session of the state legislative assembly, which is slated to commence from July 25, including Goa Waste Management Corporation Bill, which will deal with the formation
of solid waste management body for the purpose of treating the garbage generated in Goa, and Regularisation of Unauthorised Structures and Encroachments Bill, dealing with regularisation of unauthorised structures on government land, public land, communidade land and cases that are sub-judice, prior to February 28, 2014.
The Economic Survey and the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India are also expected to be tabled in the House during this session.
The meeting of the Business Advisory Committee headed by Speaker Anant Shet, which was held on Monday in the presence of Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and leader of the opposition Pratapsingh Rane finalised the business for the monsoon session of the state legislative assembly. Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza and Minister for Public Works Department Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar also attended the meeting.
Two Bills seeking to replace as many ordinances would also come before the assembly including The Goa Regularisation of Unauthorized Construction Ordinance, 2016, for regularising unauthorised constructions in Goa, in private lands, co-owned lands, and mundkar lands, prior to February 28, 2014.
Till date, altogether 2,212 questions – 662 starred and 1,550 unstarred – have been submitted to the legislature department by various MLAs, for reply from the concerned ministers. The exercise of ballot lottery system, which allows turns to MLAs for raising their questions in the House, is also in progress.
Meanwhile, it has been decided that Friday, which is fixed as private members’ day, would also be utilised for discussion on demands for various grants. The proceedings of the day in the House would end by 6 pm; however, if needed, could be extended by an hour. The monsoon session of the state legislative assembly will end on August 12.
