Panaji: Bharatiya Sanskruti Raksha Samiti (BSRS) has filed a complaint with the director of education against a Siolim-based religious sect for holding prayers in the proximity of a government primary school, while classes are in progress.
Shailendra Velingkar of BSRS said that another complaint has also been filed with the chief minister and education minister, Laxmikant Parsekar, that the sect begins prayers as early as 6.30am and disturbs classes at one of the oldest primary schools in Siolim.
"We have also met the panchayat minister to brief him about how the compound wall of the church of this sect is of a height above the permissible limit. No action has been taken so far despite the violations. The government seems to be supporting these acts. We need to raise our voice so the government is forced to take action," said Velingkar and added that the sect reach extends beyond Siolim and is set to change the demographics of Goa.
"We have created a brigade of 200 young men and 50 young women. Hindus and Catholics need to come together to drive home the message and essence of their respective religions more strongly among their faithful. We should make it difficult for any other misguided thoughts to penetrate among our faithful. Our brigade has already started working among temple-goers in Siolim. We request Catholic leaders to help us in this mission," said Velingkar. tnn
