MGP extends support to BBSM agitation

PONDA: The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) on Sunday declared their open support to Bhartiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) over the issue of grants being given to English medium primary schools by BJP.
Bharatiya Janata Party in spite of the promises made during the 2012 assembly election and also after actively participating in the agitation along with BBSM against the then Congress government led by Digamber Kamat has continued providing grants to English medium primary schools.

MGP declared their open support to BBSM during a meeting held at Farmagudi, Ponda on Sunday.
MGP president Deepak Dhavalikar attended the meeting.
Ponda MLA Lavu Mamladar, while speaking during the meeting, declared that MGP is supporting the agitation of BBSM and promised that the issue will be raised in the assembly and that they will ask the government to discontinue grants.
More than thousand people attended the meeting of which majority were women.
ZP member Chitra Phadte, councillor of Ponda Venkatesh Naik, sarpanch of Bandora Nayan Naik, sarpanch of Kavale Rajesh Kavalekar, Kundai sarpanch Viddhya Kundaikar, Dr Ketan Bhatikar and BBSM officials – Anand Shirodkar, Dayanand Phadte, Arvindh Bhatikar, Subhash Velingkar, Subhash Desai and Advocate Swati Kerkar were present on the dais.
