TAG finds the answer to tiatr’s ‘personal’ problem

Margao: Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) at a meeting convened of the Tiatr fraternity, on Wednesday, unanimously resolved to take immediate measures to halt outbreaks of personal skirmishes amongst the fraternity on the Konkani stage.

The meeting was called in the aftermath of a mob attack on Conception de Tuem while he was performing in his tiatr 'Answer', at Margao, on Saturday. The mob was allegedly led by the wife and supporters of tiatrist Francis de Tuem.
TAG president Agostinho Temudo confirmed that both Francis and Conception attended the two-and-a-half-hour-long meeting along with nearly 300 other tiatrists at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
Those present at the meeting unanimously passed resolutions condemning those who attacked Conception, as well as any director/writer targeting the personal life of other directors from the stage. Other resolutions passed, which were accepted by all present, included the self-regulation of scripts by tiatr directors, and the screening of lyrics for vulgarity or communal overtones, said TAG vice- president William Fernandes.
Temudo said, "Observers will be present for tiatrs and they will inform us."
He added, "We will try and convince tiatrists to observe TAG guidelines. Whatever may have occurred in the past, I, as TAG president, along with senior tiatr directors Roseferns and Mario Menezes, will take the lead and avoid personal attacks on politicians in songs. All tiatrists, whether singers, actors or directors have agreed to stage decent tiatrs."
