Absconding Gujarat boy found in Candolim after fortnight

PANAJI: Goa cyber crime police has traced a 17-year-old boy at Candolim who had gone missing from Gujarat.
A case of kidnapping was registered with Rander police station in Gujarat on 9th of this month and upon suspicion that the boy, an engineering (diploma) dropout could be in Goa, the Gujarat police contacted the cyber crime police for assistance.

Based on the details and the photograph provided by the Gujarat police, the Goa cyber crime police tracked the boy in Candolim. “Being an engineering student, knowing he will be tracked, he did not make use of his mobile phone number,” informed police adding, “he was active on facebook, which enabled us to track his location”.
Incidentally this is a first such case (kidnapping) wherein police from other states sought assistance of the Goa cyber crime police.
Based on the IP address, police traced the boy in Candolim, a couple of days back and he has been kept at Apana Ghar Merces.
“He was using a WiFi connection of a hotel where he visited for snacks while he was working in a different hotel in the same locality,” informed police. A team of cyber crime police led by PSI Ronak Kadam under the supervision of PI Rajesh Job and SP Karthik Kashyap traced the boy.
According to police, the boy had run away from his house after he was reportedly fed up owing to his failure to complete the first year of an engineering course (diploma). After he went missing his parents lodged a complaint with the police in Gujarat and the boy being minor in age, it was registered as a case of kidnapping. According to police, the boy had visited Goa a year ago with his family and there was a suspicion that he could be in Goa.
