Amendment to Goa Land Revenue Code introduced

Porvorim: The Goa Land Revenue Code (Amendment) Bill, 2016 was introduced in the assembly on Wednesday, seeking many changes to the 1968 legislation including increase in fees for sanads.
Deputy chief minister and revenue minister Francis D'Souza tabled the bill.

The bill proposes to amend Section 32 of the Goa Land Revenue Code, 1968 to exempt conversion fees in case of land used for the purpose of housing by co-operative housing society formed by government servants or accredited journalists.
It also seeks to amend Section 61 of the act so as to enable a single holder of land in a particular land holding to request for partition of his land holding.
Besides, Section 96 of the act is sought to be substituted to make provisions for mandatory mutation of all transactions of land which are registered with the sub-registrar and to enhance mutation fees among others.

Section 102 of the act is proposed to be amended to empower the sub-registrar to collect mutation fees and send intimation to the mamlatdar of the taluka.
The bill also seeks to add a new Section 108 A to authorize the director of settlement and land records or other authorized officer to issue identification certificates for survey numbers or corresponding certificate, in respect of survey records on request, to the applicant.
