Dhavalikar wants to hike water tariff

PORVORIM: PWD minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar alias Sudin, on Monday, said that the the construction of the new Zauri bridge and two approach flyovers would begin this October.

Dhavalikar also assured that over the next four years, 24X7 water supply would become a reality. He said that Rs 1,600 crore would be spent on construction of a new water treatment plant and for the replacement of old pipelines. He also urged MLAs to allow him to increase the water tariff by 50 paisa.
Informing the house that the state would receive Rs 2,500 crore under the Bharatmala project, Dhavalikar suggested that the Chorao bridge be constructed on priority.
Speaking on the river navigation department, Dhavalikar said that an eight hour shift would be introduced for river navigation department against the present 24 hour shift. The salaries of the employees of river navigation department would also be reduced to save around Rs 3.5 crore, he said.
