Panaji: The directorate of mines and geology (DMG) is examining a complaint pertaining to illegal mining filed against multiple persons including a BJP MLA.
The plaint had originally been filed with the special investigation team (SIT). "SIT has forwarded the complaint to us and we are looking into it," a senior DMG official said, refusing to divulge any more information.
During the March 2012 assembly elections, BJP had promised its electorate that it will take strict action against all those involved in mining illegalities, and not spare political bigwigs if they are found supporting illegal mining activities.
