Pakistan hackers at play; GIM website defaced twice

The homepage of Goa Institute of Management, Sakhali official website was hacked twice along with the official site of Gujarat National Law University on Sunday by one ‘Zain Haxor’ claiming to be a member of the notorious Pak Cyber Attackers.

Panaji: The official Facebook page of the group which is allegedly owned by one Muhammed Waseem, who goes by the hacker name ‘Hunter Gujjar’, has posted about the two websites that were hacked at midnight.
Meanwhile, the GIM homepage was retrieved and was back to normal by Sunday afternoon. However, it was hacked again.
The hacked website has graphics posted while Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s ‘Shukriya Pakistan’ played in the background. The graphics read ‘Pakistan Zindabad. Happy Fourteenth August 2016. Team, Pak Cyber Attackers. Stop killing of Muslims in Kashmir and in India’.
However, no complaint was submitted before the Cyber Crime police station, Ribandar, which is ironically a stone’s throw away from GIM’s former campus at Ribandar.
The cyber attack now joins a list of official and government department websites which have been hacked over the last four years.
While personal information and data of citizens or students has not been stolen in these attacks, questions are being raised about the preparedness of the security agencies to counter such incidents and zero down on the culprits.
Previously, 17 websites which were hosted in State Data Center and NIC Data Center have been hacked in the last four years.
These include the official sites of Directorate of Accounts, NRI Commission, Chief Electoral Officer, Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration, Directorate of Settlement and Land Records, Captain of Ports, Goa Dental
