PANAJI: Speaker Anant Shet on Wednesday admitted the 'no-confidence motion' moved by the opposition against CM Laxmikant Parsekar and his council of ministers. He did not specify when it will be taken up for discussion.
Opposition leader Pratapsingh Rane had given a notice of no-confidence motion on Tuesday accusing the government of trying to throttle the opposition by sidelining questions posed by them.
Shet granted leave to the opposition to move a no-confidence motion against the government after ensuring that it was supported by one-fifth members of the House. Eight opposition MLAs and Nuvem MLA Francisco Pacheco alias Mickky of Goa Vikas Party (GVP) supported the motion. GVP is an alliance partner of the government, and there have been no announcement from GVP that they have parted ways. tnn
