PANAJI: Chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar's idea to subsidize cellular connectivity for students did not receive the reaction he expected, with youth group Ami Navelkar Org, slamming the initiative. Ami Navelkar Org called the move "the BJP government's latest attempt to inculcate the habit of bribes among Goan youth, who wanted employment and not freebies.
"Announcement of talktime and internet data for students by the BJP government is a joke. The actual needs of youth like employment and reduction in educational fees are side-lined. Youth need jobs, not only in government sectors but also in private sectors," Siddesh Bhagat, a member, said.
