CM Laxmikant Parsekar: Govt won't change its stance on medium-of-instruction

PANAJI: Chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Tuesday said that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Goa vibhag cadre will work under Laxman 'Nana' Vaman Behre, new RSS Goa vibhag sanghcahalak and the government will not change its stand on the medium-of-instruction (MoI) issue.

Speaking to TOI, Parsekar said, "I have never changed my stand (MoI issue)." When asked if BJP will face a threat from the newly-separate RSS Goa prant in assembly elections, Parsekar said that the RSS cadre will work under Behre. On Sunday, around 2,000 cadre of RSS Goa prant had unanimously passed a resolution to defeat BJP in the 2017 assembly elections.
"There may not be much of an impact of RSS Goa prant on BJP as BJP has already made 3.45 lakh members and with the effective and sufficient number of BJP workers, BJP will be in a comfortable position to fight the assembly elections, Parsekar said.
BJP held a series of meetings with RSS Goa prant chief Subhash Velingkar on the MoI issue and on August 19, the saffron outfit removed Velingkar from his post, as it was perceived that he crossed the line by embarking upon a confrontation with the BJP government here.
Reacting to the Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) decision to form a new political party, Parsekar said that launching of more and more political parties will benefit BJP in the next assembly elections to come back to power. "I never underestimate political parties, but launching of AAP, BBSM's party and others will not have an effect on BJP due to its performance in the government during the last four-and-half years," he said, further adding that BJP will take suitable action.
Pointing out that Congress is a divided house and Congress MLAs are busy in floating their new party to align with BJP to secure a ministerial berth to enjoy power, Parsekar said, "After being left out of power for the last four-and-half years, Congress and independent MLAs are now floating family parties to win one or two seats so that they can join in formation of the new government in the state after elections."
Parsekar said Congress and independent MLAs "are praying that BJP should win only 18 seats in the next assembly election, so that with their support, BJP can form the government.
