Sequeira: MLA Michael Lobo making wild allegations for publicity

CALANGUTE: Calangute village panchayat's acting sarpanch, Joseph Sequeira, has refuted charges made by Calangute MLA Michael Lobo that he has been obstructing infrastructural projects in the coastal tourism hub, particularly the sewerage pipeline network and the sewage treatment plant.

"I have been after the state government for a sewage treatment plant and pipeline network since 1994, but nobody listened to me. When we had discussions with Manohar Parrikar on the eve of the last assembly elections, we said we would support the BJP if they gave us five projects: a garbage treatment plant, a sewerage pipeline network and sewage treatment plant, parking lot and bypass road at Baga, and a new market complex," Sequeira said on Saturday.
"Within five months of the new government coming to power we had laid the foundation stone for the sewerage system. At no point of time we have objected to the digging work. We only told them not to make it inconvenient for the people. But the contractor has been digging the roads and then keeping them like that for more than a year.
