Panjim residents living in old buildings to get pass for car, two-wheeler
PANJIM: Those entering the Capital city will have to shell out parking fees to park their vehicles in 18 designated spots including the busiest 18th June Road from Monday (May 2). The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) is all set to implement its ambitious and much delayed pay parking project.
However, the residents from Panjim, living in old buildings will be given one pass each for car and two-wheeler provided he is a regular house tax payer. No exemption has been given to shopkeepers or commercial establishments.
As per the rates, the two wheelers would be charged Rs 8 for four to 12 hours of parking and Rs 15 for parking above 12 hours but less than 24 hours.
For four-wheelers, Rs 15 would be charged for parking between four hours to 12 hours while above 12 hours but less than 24 hours Rs 20 would be charged.
The pay parking tender is been awarded to Margao-based Straight Deal Services. “The pay parking would be implemented from Monday,” Mayor Surendra Furtado said.
