PANAJI: The second edition of the Rotary Rain Run ended tragically for a 23-year-old Dutch girl who collapsed and died during marathon at the GMC Athletic Stadium at Bambolim on Sunday. Rotary Rain Run was organized by Rotary Club of Porvorim in support of women's health and education and began at 5:30 am.
Identified as Christina Kanptev, the girl fainted midway during the marathon and was immediately rushed to the GMC hospital by the organizers of the marathon. She was declared dead on arrival by GMC doctors and the Agassaim police station was notified.
According to Police officials, Kanptev was on a tourist visa to Goa and was staying at Anjuna.
