Govt bent on solving students’ issues: CM

Porvorim: Chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar, on Tuesday, assured the house that the government is committed to solve issues faced by the students of Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Panaji, with the cooperation of the Goa University (GU).
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, in a calling attention motion, said there was fear in the minds of the aggrieved students, who were earlier denied the results of their first and second year exams. Although the results were subsequently declared, 27 students who had cleared the exams, were being threatened by the GU that their admission would not be treated as valid. Parsekar, in his reply, said a special meeting of the academic council has been called for on July 29 to deliberate new findings. tnn
Parsekar also said that he is continues pursuing the issue and we will see that issue is solve. While stating that university is autonomous, Parsekar said that autonomy is not to play with the future of students.
Sardesai said that if require government should amendment the law so that in such circumstances government can intervene into the matter. He also said that it is the ego vice chancellor which is creating the trouble when everyone wants to solve the issue.
