PANAJI: Admitting that the state experiences missing of its children, Minister for Women and Child Development Dilip Parulekar on Monday informed that although the government has not appointed or proposes to appoint any panel or committee for formulating an action plan to search the missing children and their rescue, the national portal – trackthemissingchild.gov.in – is being used for tracking missing children and rescuing them.
Coming out with a written reply before the state legislative assembly, Parulekar informed that from July 21, 2015, to July 21, 2016, altogether 38 children from Goa are missing. “We have recovered 287 missing children through non-police means, while recovered 17 such children with the help of police,” the reply added.
Incidentally, it has been found that many a times, teenagers run away with their boyfriend/ girlfriend and return only after they run out of money. Some cases of children running from children’s home have also been observed.
The Minister for Women and Child Development also informed that the government has not restricted the guidelines for functioning of orphanages in the state. “The majority of the orphanages in the state have not reported any practical difficulties in implementing these guidelines,” he added, pointing out that the government has no proposal to make any relaxation in this regard.
