BJP to sound 2017 poll bugle in Shah’s presence tomorrow

PANAJI: Stating that national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Amit Shah will arrive on a one-day visit to Goa on August 20, with ‘Tonic’ for party’s booth-level workers, state party president Vinay Tendulkar on Thursday said that Shah will address a strong crowd of 10,000 BJP booth-level workers at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, the same evening.

“The national BJP president had also focussed on the booth-level workers in Uttar Pradesh during the 2012 Lok Sabha election, and received outstanding results,” he added, pointing out that the BJP will sound the 2017 poll bugle for Goa in the presence of Shah.
It may be recalled that the BJP had won 71 seats out of the total 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh during the Lok Sabha election held in the country in 2012.
Addressing a press conference at the state BJP headquarters, Tendulkar said that Shah will also address a meeting of the state BJP MLAs as well as office bearers of the state BJP executive, during his visit to Goa, where he would provide guidance about the forthcoming state assembly election.
Speaking further, the state BJP chief said that Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir would be arriving in Goa on August 22 to attend the valedictory function of the Tiranga Yatra, organised by BJP in commemoration of the 70th Independence Day of India. “Ahir will start his programmes in Goa by paying homage at the Martyrs Memorial at Azad Maidan in the city,” he added, informing that the concluding function of Tiranga Yatra will be held in Mormugao taluka.
Reacting to the rampant pre-poll surveys conducted to predict the results of the forthcoming state assembly election, Tendulkar said that these surveys have shown less than majority seats for BJP. “The BJP, however, will win majority of the seats and again form government in the state,” he noted, pointing out that the BJP has over 4.25 lakh members in the state, and, therefore, would be victorious at this election.
Replying to a question, the state BJP chief said that the internal survey conducted by the state BJP unit as regards the 2017 state assembly election would come out next month.
