NSUI to hold march to GU today; demands re-poll

PANJIM: The Congress-backed National Students Union of India (NSUI) Goa unit will hold a march to the Goa University on Monday demanding re-election of the council, which is now ruled by BJP Yova Morcha.
NSUI state president Ahraz Mulla said that members will march to the Goa University seeking action against BJPYM members and re-election of the council.

“The election process and the GU campus were completely hijacked by the BJPYM members on Friday (election day). NSUI members were abused and threatened. We demand justice,” he alleged.
Mulla pointed out how one of their candidates Prachiti Gurav’s nominaton was disqualified on flimsy grounds and others were threatened by the BJPYM members forcing them to back out from the election.
“We are not going to tolerate political interference in the educational sector. Government is trying to hijack the Goa University,” he charged.
NSUI has already filed a police complaint before Panjim police station against the BJPYM members including Akhil Parrikar, Atmaram Barve, Gajanan Tilve and Pranav Savardekar.
BJPYM swept the GU council election winning all nine seats. On the day of election, scuffles occurred between BJPYM and NSUI members, forcing the police to intervene and resolve the issue
